Festival Founder
Dean is a freelance writer and filmmaker, and festival director of MidWest WeirdFest in Wisconsin, USA. A fan of the fantastic genres since he was very young, Dean's voracious consumption of movie horror, fantasy, and sci-fi lead, inevitably, to him co-founding A Night of Horror International Film Festival with Lisa Mitchell in 2006. He has a Ph.D. in American History from the University of Sydney and co-hosts the podcast Talking Weird. He co-produced the anthology A Night of Horror: Volume 1 with Enzo Tedeschi in 2015, and is the writer and producer of the upcoming feature Virgin Forest, from director and festival alumnus Kerry Prior (The Revenant, ANOH 2010).
